Ksubi (formerly known as Tsubi) is an Australian fashion label, co-founded and directed by surfers Dan Single, George Gorrow, Oska Wright and Paul Wilson in 2001. Under the name Tsubi, they originally started manufacturing their jeans and denim, and became hot property amongst boutique shops throughout Australia with their tsubi distressed denim jeans. The success of Tsubi denim jeans brought about the labels expansion into a fully fledged fashion label. Tsubi successfully ventured into other avenues such as Tsubi tshirts, female clothing, sunglasses and jewellery.
The success of Tsubi has led to the opening of four boutique Tsubi shop fronts. Three stores are located in Australia (two in Sydney in Paddington and Bondi, and one in Armadale, Melbourne), and one boutique opened in Manhattan, New York.
A trademark dispute in 2006 forced Tsubi to rename their brand to Ksubi. Ksubi is pronounced as “soobie” in Australian accents, and “sue-bee” in American accents. The first letter in both Ksubi and their earlier name Tsubi has always been silent.
