Blinde Lenses and Frame
FRAMES
While design inspiration and materials are crucial elements to the Blinde eyewear line, 100% handmade quality brings it all together. Every Blinde eyewear component is transformed by hand using traditional manufacturing techniques that have been refined over decades. The result is an eyewear line with inherent design value and superior quality. While Blinde frames are known for a great fit due to our unique design process, they are also be fully adjusted by an optician.
MATERIALS- Handmade Japanese and Italian zyl plastics, regarded as the best in the world, are fashioned into sheets of rich, variegated patterns and classic, solid colors in layered and dimensional color combinations. These zyls are chosen to match the unique aesthetic of each frame design—resulting in the perfect marriage of shape and color.
METALS- The finest titanium sheet stock is also used to craft other Blinde eyewear styles. This strong, yet lightweight material is expensive and very difficult to work with, but provides superior durability and comfort for the wearer.
HINGE TECHNOLOGY - The classic 6-pin, 7-barrel hinge is riveted completely through the frame for exceptional strength. The 7-barrel hinge action is smooth and inherently stable, and provides maximum hinge strength. The pin-flex hinge, unique to Blinde eyewear, uses a sophisticated compression spring and cantilever design to add not only visual appeal to the frames, but incredible comfort to the wearer without any of the vertical movement intrinsic in most spring hinge concepts.
LENSES
CR-39 DEPOSITION HARD COATING- Providing the best optical quality in a plastic lens, these durable and lightweight CR-39 lenses are excellent for oversize and fashion styles and can be tinted in a variety of custom colors and gradations for the perfect look. Anti-reflective coating* is applied to the back side of these lenses to decrease the amount of visual interference coming from behind the wearer.

*WHAT DOES AN ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING DO? An anti-reflective (AR) coating consists of several layers of metal oxides applied to the front and back lens surfaces. Each layer is scientifically calculated to block reflected light. As a result, the coating absorbs the damaging bounce-back glare that causes eye fatigue and impaired vision. All Blinde lenses are treated with a back side AR coating.
